Our story

Forty years of learning which crate to trust

MGM Fruits began trading on 1 April 2007, but the family had already spent years on the floor of Ahmedabad's fruit market before the name ever went up on a board. Between the partners, the business carries roughly four decades of experience in buying, grading and moving fresh fruit.

We work out of 38/1, New Fruit Market on Naroda Road — close enough to the morning auction that we can inspect a lot, buy it and have it graded and dispatched before the day gets hot. That proximity is the whole business: fruit that spends fewer hours in transit simply reaches the customer in better condition.

Over the years we have supplied more than 500 clients and customers — neighbourhood fruit shops, wholesale traders, hotel kitchens and caterers — most of whom still call the same three numbers they called the first time. We would rather keep a buyer for ten years than win one on a cheap box.

Milestones

How the business grew

  1. Before 2007

    Years on the market floor

The partners learn the trade the only way it can be learned — buying, grading and selling fruit at Ahmedabad's market, day after day.

  2. 2007

    MGM Fruits is founded

The business is formally established on 1 April 2007 at the New Fruit Market, Naroda Road, under the MGM ADI trade mark.

  3. 2010s

    The range widens

Apple remains the mainstay, with guava, pomegranate and later dragon fruit added as buyers start asking for a single supplier for the whole counter.

How we trade

The habits we do not cut corners on

Honesty is the best policy

It is painted on our card and it is how we trade. One rate, stated plainly, with the grade you were quoted actually inside the box.

Hand-graded, every lot

Nothing is shipped straight off the truck. Each consignment is opened, sorted for colour and firmness, and repacked before it is dispatched.

Same-day market dispatch

Order before the morning auction closes and your consignment leaves the New Fruit Market the same day for anywhere in Ahmedabad.

Supply through the season

Standing weekly orders for retailers, hotels and caterers, with cold-store backup so your shelf is covered when the local crop is between seasons.

Weight you can verify

Boxes are weighed in front of you and the count is written on the carton. What is on the bill is what is in the crate.

40 years of market experience

Four decades on the floor of the fruit market means we know which grower is packing well this week — and which one to skip.
